Old Mary Ann has done her best to bring up her son on her own. Like other relatives, her son has a longing to travel off over the mountains. Mary Ann goes with him. Later on her son marries, but loses his wife after she gives birth to their son. Mary Ann assumes responsibility of her grandson, while her son moves away in the agony of his grief. This is the story of what happens to her grandson and where his Grandmother, the songs of the birds, and his faith leads him. (Summary by Daryl Wor) (1 hr 30 min)

God is faithful, if we are faithful.

Young Sami believed and obeyed the instructions of his grandmother. By and by he was led to a safe haven through his desire to do what pleased his grandmother and the "Dear Lord".
Heartwarming, old fashioned story

Storytime with HannahMary
An example for young children of trusting God through loss, grief, unknowns, false accusations... and sticking to the truth no matter what.
uplifting

Full of sorrow and hardship as all of Johanna Spyris stories but with a delightful ending as reward for conscientious faithfulness.
