I enjoyed the story, and the author managed to add some interesting twists and turns to keep it interesting plus I love anything to do with folklore. My one criticism is this old routine where the character is taken to a magical world where everything is fresh and exciting with all sorts of possibilities - yet they desperately want to return to their world where their lives were drab and boring with a mortal life ending in death.... I just don't understand this mentality. We see it with superheros who aquire fabulous powers only to dedicate their lives to research how to get remove the powers and become normal again.
best book ever!

the author reads the book which his voice i think is perfect! i listened while at work at i was so in to my work as i listened it was like a trance. it was very well written and i hope that there are lost more from this author and from the series

I listened to this great book two years ago and have just revisited it again and it was just as good as I remembered. John Lenahan’s narration is fabulous, a rare author whose creative storytelling and voice are both excellent. Highly recommended by me. It’s got a great pace, great characters, great story, entwined with magic, myth and a good sprinkling of humour. Just a note regarding the music John chose for his podcast. Don’t let it put you off as you’ll hear it a lot but this book is a chapter format podcast and follows the usual musical intos and endings for each chapter. Thank you John, I loved it, I for one am really glad you decided to take the plunge to write and yes you definitely can! 😄👍

I I have honestly lost count of how many times I've listened to this book and how many times that I have read it and read along while listening to it, it is absolutely fabulous I love the music I love the author's voice the characters that he brings to life I always have to skip the one part where Connor ignores firgal in his moment of need to talk to him cuz I know what it eventually pans out too and it's sad and I cry every time and I cry at the end of the third book as well it's just a beautiful story and if you haven't listened to it yet you need to cause you'll be hooked for life and I really hope that LibriVox never takes this off of their site

This story is a lot of fun, I highly recommend it. It's not super deep like Tolkien, but instead think Terry Brooks meets "Princess Bride" and that will give you a sort of idea of the author's style. The reader, who happens to be the author, does a fantastic job of bringing his work to life. Great job John, not just on your writing, but also on your performance. you bring the story to life. I look forward to your future work. Cheers!

sheer brilliance. there was intense character development. impossible not to love and hate some characters. amazing story, I couldn't get enough. the relief that there was a sequel is actually kind of funny. I could almost see the world. 5 stars is not nearly enough. if I could read it anew I would.

I really liked this book. It was fun, and the story was great. The author’s reading of the book was extremely well done as well. He gave great life to the characters.
