Sally Buds had scarcely arrived on Earth before she is called back into service. She is, of course, Earth’s only real expert on the evil Masters on New Ontario, but now there may be trouble coming from this side of the fold! A Japanese ship representing the Asian Economic Alliance is now heading towards the fold and UN Command fears that they may be trying to forge an alliance with the Masters.

This time Sally’s crew includes a battalion of soldiers armed with deadly weapons. But, as before, the mission turns out to be different than expected. Trapped and a realm that makes no logical sense and defies physics, Sally’s crew encounters an intelligence beyond human reasoning and a beast which stalks them mercilessly seeking revenge for a crime they can’t imagine.

Still digesting in Borneo

(3,5 Sterne)

Phew....where does one begin. This is an extremely complex story where the narrative does not so much twist and turns, but rather rises and falls through its many layers....and be prepared for stomach in mouth moments...either on the way up or down. This is firstly a Sci-fi narrative and there are many interesting concepts and propositions to wrap ones mind around. However, it is also an exploration of human character under stress and how this impacts relationships. I really appreciated this book, even if I was riled by the actions of some characters; but I guess that's the point! Good one Paul....looking forward to Splash down....

The author always has interesting and clever dual storylines. Unfortunately in this book he is heavy handed. For some reason in the future lesbians are discriminated against and we are reminded again and again and again. Military leaders and Christians are presented as stereotypes (both are irrational lunatics). That being said, I find the author's work very enjoyable! I highly recommend all his books! Keep up the good work.

it’s OK

A fairly decent lesson that is read well enough. The story gets bogged down at times though with too much technical detail. I say this as an engineer! Problem is that all this detail detracts from the story for me and over complicates it with unnecessary padding. I haven’t listened to book one and I won’t be listening to book 3, but that’s not to say that it is a bad book. As I stated in the title, it’s okay. I rarely find that series of books hold my attention across each offering, Which is as much why I am moving onto a new author.

I will say WOW! Join Sally and companions on a harrowing adventure that joins so many sci-fi concepts with real world human issues it is hard not to stay up and listen all night. I don’t think there is any gratuitous sex or violence in this book so it is a great listen. Good to the end. One of my newest favorite authors.

Just finished listening to most recent podcast. I did enjoy web of life but not as much as the others (which I loved), but having listened to some of your answers to other comments I see why this is the case. The snippet you gave us from Splashdown has really ...

Raymond, Thank you for your interest and I am glad you enjoyed the story to the extent that you did. Yes, I think you will like Splashdown more because it takes a critical step further in the development of many things in the characters and their interaction. I'm glad you ...

This is a great story. I like how the different books are separate yet tied together. The storyline is quite original. The only complaint I have is the overly obvious social commentary about Sally's sexuality when she was getting her mind probed. It felt like an over-bearing soapbox moment where ...
