Susanna Holcombe, a very sensitive and free spirited young lady, tries to fit in to society. But it is very hard for a Victorian woman to carve her own path, and she is almost forced to marry colonel Dymond. This book tells about her trials and tribulations. Can she find her place at last? Perfect for fans of Mary Elizabeth Braddon and Anthony Trollope, and those who want a Jane Austen novel with a twist. Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie was the eldest daughter of William Makepeace Thackeray, author of Vanity Fair. - Summary by Stav Nisser. (12 hr 37 min)

Just an ok Victorian romance. It got better in the last “book” when the action took place in Paris during out of control revolutionary rioting. The readers did a fine job. Please stop complaining about readers who give their time and effort for no payment to read to us.

Historical Fiction

Despite other reviews, I was relieved that these later readers pronounced everything correctly. Despite the last reader's monotone, this is still an amazing glimpse of the French Revolution in all it's insanity. I learned much that I did not already know about this history.

very bad readers

(0,5 Sterne)

horrible readers in the last few chapters...the book is very interesting but the last 2 readers ruined it for me...
