The Career of Alice Blair soap opera ran began on January 30, 1939, and lasted for a year. The opening plotline, according to newspaper clippings is that Alice is 24 years old and is has to move from a small town to bustling New York City. She's leaving behind an unpaid mortgage, debts from he recently deceased father, and the obligation to care for her teenage brother and sister. She lands a job in the big city working for a publishing company... and in the process falls in love with the owner of the company, but there's a problem... he's married! This is the first episode of the series.
