Jazz Today #194 9/1/1959

Episode #194 of "Jazz Today", broadcast on KOMO, Seattle, on September 1st, 1959, and recorded in full-track mono at 7.5ips on a reel of Scotch 190 audio tape. As with episode #192, the quality is slightly worse than on earlier episodes, with background noise throughout the recording. Our host Bill references being in LA, which could mean that this tape (and #192) was recorded on different equipment, or dubbed from a broadcast or perhaps a transcription disk. Earlier episodes sound like they were recorded directly from the mixing console.  Transferred on a 4-track TEAC A6300 reel to reel deck. Track listing:  1) Opening (0:00-2:33) 2) Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Georgia on my Mind" (2:34-9:11) 3) Discussion (9:12-9:39) 4) Rainier Beer jingle, long (and updated?) version (9:40-10:37) 5) Announcements (10:38-11:12) 6) Si Zentner and his Orchestra - "The Sweetheart of Sigma Kai" (11:13-13:20) 7) Discussion, the return of "Big Bands", the new 12" LP re-release of "Moonlight in Vermont" by Johnny Smith from 1947 (13:21-14:56) 8) Johnny Smith Quintet - "Moonlight in Vermont" (14:56-18:07) 9) Discussion, Rainier Beer plug (18:08-19:40) 10) Louie Bellson - Medley-"Love is Here to Stay", "Flamingo", & "Makin' Whoopie!"
