I love these stories, but I do think that the word n----- should not be spoken. I understand it was common in the time of this writing, but we know better now.

I am in love with these stories. I have to say that the books are quite a lot different from the show, which I watched with my family before I got into the recordings. Both are good in their own ways. I really like the character of the bumbly (not a word, but it feels appropriate) little priest who solves mysteries with intuition and skill. I understand that there are offensive racial words used in the book, but honestly, it would be an insult to the age to censor things like that. It might have been the only word they knew to refer to African-Americans. They probably didn’t mean anything by it. Of course, I am no expert on the times, so you should research these things yourself. I must specially mention James R. Hedrick, for the enthusiasm he put into his reading. I extend my thanks to him, and to all the other readers who took the time to record this so it could become available to the public. You are appreciated!
