Alice in Blunderland: an Iridescent Dream

From Alice in Blunderland:
"Certain of our members claim that they have a right to sell their votes for $500 apiece--"

"Mercy!" cried Alice, "Why, that is--that is terrible."

"It certainly is," said the March Hare ruefully, it's rotten. Here I've been holding out for $1,250 for mine, and these duffers want to go in for a cut rate that will absolutely ruin the business."

John Kendrick Bangs takes Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and turns it into a political satire in many ways as fresh, keen and relevant today as it was a hundred years ago. (Summary by Ruth Golding) (1 hr 58 min)

another of Bangs tales

John Kendrick Bangs & Ruth Golding what a combination to bring a smile & chuckle to one. Ruth is just a amazing reader I just sit back and enjoy her gift of telling a story rather than reading one. This Bangs spoof is really worth lending a ear to. Even thou written over a hundred years ago this tale is very much alive and true today. Enjoy!

Really good reading.

As always Ruth Golding does a great job bringing the book to life (try the excellent Sherlock readings she does). The book itself is a bit heavy handed in places but it's curious to hear 100+ year old jokes about communism, excessive bureaucracy and delivering to spec without consideration of use. There are a few gems of jokes in there too.

An audio gem

I enjoyed this reading immensely. Ruth Golding’s near-perfect diction and delivery is so very easy on the ears and gives life to what would otherwise be a very average story. Other readers could learn a great deal from her example.

Charmingly read, but I didn't love it. I suspect it isn't actually as good as it was 100 years ago. Now it's just kind of sad that so much of it is actually true.

We live in a topsy Turvey world very close to this tale. Perhaps the moons of jupiter will bring us to our senses. Excellent reading the voices still ehco in my dreams.

Certainly Relevant Today

This satire is great, and very well read by Ruth Golding. Written in 1906 and certainly relevant today. Highly recommended!

Brilliant

I love Alice in wonderland and this is a fantastic addition to the lore. Strangely reminiscent of what's going on today...

An unexpected giggle

well read out and a well written parody of ridiculousness of an already amusing upside down book. Recommended listening.
