Over the top Edwardian parody

(4,5 Sterne)

I like to go into a book cold, knowing nothing about it if possible. So, it took a bit of time before I realized that this story was a fantasy. It reminded me of ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE. Every character is a fabulous exaggeration of his or her real world counterpart. Once I accepted the world Beerbohm created, I just sat back and enjoyed the ride! The reader is absolutely fabulous. If there is an Audible version of this book, it could not possibly be better. Be sure to listen to the name of the town the reader names as home at the end of this book. It sounds like a fairytale place itself! Don’t miss this book!!!

amazing narration

(5 Sterne)

Great fun-Zuleiika is a literary heroine of sorts and this is a zinger of a book. Special mention however of the narrator, who is absolutely perfect-I can't imagine an improvement. Even Stephen Fry would struggle to match him!

you gotta meet Zuleika!
