Pride and Prejudice (version 4)

Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen's classic comic romance, in which the five Bennett sisters try to find that most elusive creature: a single man in possession of a large fortune. Sparks fly when sweet, pretty Jane meets their new neighbor, Mr. Bingley, but her sister Elizabeth is most offended by his haughty friend, Mr. Darcy. This is Austen at the height of her powers: the ironic narration, hilariously drawn supporting characters, and romantic suspense make this her most enduringly popular novel. Absolutely Riveting

(5 Sterne)

Austen writes a bold character who, during a time when women were only meant for child-rearing and nothing more, is not only highly opinionated but, also, refuses to settle for anything less than what she truly deserves. The reader will almost immediately relate to Elizabeth as she fights to preserve her own and Jane's dignity at all costs. The fact that Austen wrote the father as a nurturing and encouraging pillar of support in a patriarchal society, proves that she was way beyond her time. Elizabeth Klett has done a fantastic narration with her spirited voices and accents for every character making it a wonderful read. No one does it better than Ms. Klett.

Pride and Prejudice

(5 Sterne)

What a great reading by Elizabeth Klett! After unhappily listening to Version 3, I deleted it and downloaded Version 4. What a fortuitous decision this turned out to be! Ms. Klett does a great job reading the different accents and describing the English country life of the early 19th century as depicted by the great Jane Austen! A truly excellent novel, Pride and Prejudice deserves its continued popularity. Ray Restaino

Masterfully narrated

Prof. Klett delivers a wonderful narration of this classic. I enjoyed every moment and looked forward to returning each evening to hear more. Sincere thanks, Prof. Klett!

Professional quality, highly recommend

After trying some of the most popular (in terms of views) audiobooks from librivox i was sceptical. The idea itself seemed great, but the quality of the audio and the reading were poor. I started to dig deeper and it finds out, that there are some readers that do not come short compared to professional readers. Elizabeth Klett is one of them. Great audio quality, amazing reading - articulation and personification on professional level. I was under an impression that the reader is a fan of this book, had read it many times and can cite large parts from memory. Every character was delivered with deep understanding of this character's personality. Well deserved 5 / 5 stars

Great Voice

(5 Sterne)

This will be a strange but sincerely grateful review. This narrator is a joy to listen to. Therefore, I sometimes listen to this book at night in bed. It not only helps me fall asleep but if I wake up in the night I can judge how long I've been asleep. This is important to me because many times I dream I'm awake for hours, that I can't sleep and not getting any rest. If I went to bed listening to this wonderful narration, I need only listen to where I am in the story and I know not only that yes, I've been asleep, but also how long and that I'm not suffering insomnia.

Delightful literature read by an equally delightful narrator

(5 Sterne)

I adore this reading of Pride and Prejudice. Thanks to the lovely Elizabeth Klett, I was not only able to enjoy this book in the comfort of my own home, but also while I was out and about or while doing things like cooking and cleaning. Her clear and pleasant narration enabled me to more clearly understand some of Jane Austen's more difficult to read sentences or passages, thus heightening my enjoyment of the work. Hope to listen to more of her wonderful voice work in the future :)

The best reader on LibriVox

(5 Sterne)

So many years had passed since I listened to these audiobooks that I've had forgotten how amazing it is to listen to anything recorded by Elisabeth Klett. All LibriVox volunteers are amazing for donating their time and effort, but everything in the versions by Klett is amazing. The sweet voice, the calm cadence, the accent. And the way she creates a voice for every character, respecting the personalities and not making it like a caricature. I just wanted to thank her for all the books she had recorded.

A good reader, verry suitable to the book. Sometimes at the ens of the book she reads a little faster so it's hard to hear who of the characters are talking, but that is no big problem (just me having a little default in my own hearing) and is just her being very in the moment in the book 😊 Thank you for reading it ❤
