Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts was first published in 1881 and staged in 1882, and like his earlier play A Doll's House, profoundly shocked his contemporaries. Dubbed "a dirty deed done in public" by one of its critics, the play focuses on (among other things) venereal disease, euthanasia, and incest. The original title literally means "the ones who return," and the play is about how we can deal with the awful legacy of the past. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett)

Excellent short play, well produced.

First let me say that I enjoyed this and I listened to the end. If I'm honest the reader of Oswald became a little too "whiney" and I almost gave up but I'm glad I stayed for the end. Jacob seemed to be forcing an accent that went from Cockney to South African, he is a good reader though and should have perhaps just used his natural accent whatever that is.

This is a short play and is a good one to start with to begin studying Ibsen's themes and style.

nothing like I expected. The characters are well written. the story well done. and the preacher a bumbling buffoon

Really disappointed with the readings, so e of the characters were barely understandable.
