An enjoyable whodunit even though I figured out who did it, which I normally don't. I didn't find the storyline to be out there. Excellent reader. All volunteers should be required to sound similar.

Good story, excellent reader

(4 Sterne)

A woman is found murdered in a yellow room. She seems to have no past, and no one knows where she comes from. Detective Gebb is called in to investigate, but he soon learns that this woman is no ordinary person. She was the key witness against a man accused and convicted of murder some years ago. He also learns that the man had escaped from prison and sworn revenge against the woman who testified against him. Is the murder a simple case of revenge, or is something else behind it? I enjoyed this story. It was not a edge of your seat story where I felt like I could not put it down, but it was good and I was looking forward to the next opportunity to listen to it. The reader and recordings were likewise good. Enjoy!

well read, but hokey mystery

(3 Sterne)

this reader always does a fantastic job. easy to listen to. but the story is so hokey, not realistic as another review said. within the first few scenes i figured out who did it and all the twists and turns the writer attempted only confirmed my belief, right down to who the people were and in what relation. such a let down, because the reader was so good i was hoping for an engrossing story. more like a childrens "who dunit". if you are new to mystery novels read this one, if you have read a million of them - like me - then you may want to skip it if you hate figuring out the ending in only the first chapter or two.

fun read

(4 Sterne)

well read, except for saying "goal" instead of "jail." I know, I know, it's Old English and maybe it's still pronounced that way by our friends across the pond, but it was impossible not to say "JAIL" every time she said goal and apparently shouting "JAIL" in a quiet room is frowned upon in civilized society whether you're wearing headphones or not. Ooooh noooo, please don't send me to library jail BUT if you DO send me to gaol you better pronounce it hard G like in GOAT

Classic Murder Mystery

(5 Sterne)

The old fat detective glued to his easy chair. The young new detective on a bizarre case of gruesome murder, where no one is what they seem. At the end, a honeymoon and an inheritance, with only one handsome cab case inbetween. The narrator made this an easy listen. Thank you.

Good Story

(5 Sterne)

An interesting murder mystery that holds one’s attention. The narrator is one of my favorites with her beautiful voice tone and exceptional delivery. The only criticism I have is the mispronunciation of the word “gaol” which is an archaic spelling of “jail”. Gaol is pronounced jāl exactly like jail.

Excellent Mystery

Well written and well read. The plot kept me guessing and the retired police detective who never left his chair, very reminiscent of a Nero Wolfe style character but with less to do with the overall story. I did enjoy his character and he added a curmudgeon flavor.
