Lovely book, lovely recording.

Fourteen humorous essays on such themes as Love, Eating and Drinking, Cats and Dogs and other eternal questions. Banal topics? Not at all, because it's not so much what is said as how it's said, which is highly diverting. Nobody like Jerome K. Jerome for the confirmed anglophile and modern-day Victorian connoisseur! Many thanks to Czechchris: a fine and entertaining recording!

A wonderful affectionate reading

Thank you CzechChris for this wry and gentle celebration of Jerome K Jerome's wry and gentle essays. Listener, Chris has a warm hint of the north in his accent and reads with care and quiet gravitas, with just the right balance of humour. A treasured gift to be enjoyed again and again.

excellent and poignant reflections on life

I really enjoyed listening to this book and what an excellent reader

Very good!

The essays are humorous, yes; but they're also thought provoking and philosophical. Very enjoyable! CzechChris channeled JKJ, I think. He made the essays so conversational, it's as if the author is sharing his thoughts for the first time in the room with you, and someone then transcribed from this audio for his book. Chris was that good. Technical quality is OK to good; some background static, but it fades from consciousness as you listen to what is being said.

Mixed Blessing

The reader has exactly the accent I like in a reader. Nothing but praise for that. These thoughts are not quite 'idle thoughts.' They are better than that. The essays are often amusing and insightful. Unfortunately, they are also occasionally irreverent, wherein occur the redefining of certain vices as virtues.

So Very Beautiful!
