Henry Stanton was appalled at the shocking lack of information given to young people about sex and reproduction in his time. He felt this was a crime that needed to be fixed and so he wrote this book explaining sex for young and old. Ignorance of basic reproductive processes he felt led to experimentation that then led to sin, crime and prostitution. While this book is definitely not written in what I would call Plain English, contains some very questionable 'facts' about masturbation and menstruation and might seem very moralistic and dogmatic to our current society, he does hold out high ideas for all in affairs of self respect, love and marriage. I agree with some of these things... not so much others. In my (educated) opinion, sex should be avoided until marriage. (Among other things, this could increase the sexual enjoyment once it is an option, as it'll feel more special than if you just have it before marriage.) However, there as some ideas here that I simply can't agree with. Not naming them, but there a few. However, kudos to Phil Chenevert for reading this! None of these previous reviews have actually mentioned his reading skill, but he is quite good, one of the best readers in my (educated) opinion! He is, in my (educated) opinion, simply fantastic! In fact, I can (educatedly-- ok now I'm just trolling you!) say that his voice is incredible, once again, kudos to you, Mr. Chenevert!

Take a look at the other reviews and it will tell you how great this book is. All these self indulgent people giving it 1 star because a guy 100 years ago is still causing them to question their reality. The fact is that in today's "society" everyone is given a participation trophy and nothing is taboo. Literally, if you give this 1 star you are a degenerate trying to cope with your own choices, which ironically, is the point of the book.

Plenty of good advice in here, and the author's sometimes moralizing tone is amusing if not taken too seriously. He does cross the line at times, like when he proscribes masturbation completely, but overall it's a sober book that young people can still greatly benefit from.

I'll be honest, I didn't make it too far into this book. All I will say is that I was hoping for an informative, sex-positive book that is educational and does not try to sex shame anyone. Then it got to a point where it explained that human sexuality is a good thing when done in matrimony (I'm paraphrasing.) I stopped listening after that. But no, this is not where our society is at anymore, and I'm disappointed in the biases behind this book. Being a sexual being is a good thing as long as you are confident in yourself, you're completely comfortable with what you're doing, you're not pushing anyone else into anything they're not comfortable with, and you're being responsible.

Sex is meant to be between two or more men or two or more women and or multiple intimate objects. The problem is that some Trump supporters think sex between men and women is ok. This is problematic. Anytime a man has sex with a women, he is RAPING her. Women, due to unequal power dynamics are incapable of ever giving consent. Keep sex gay. That way we can all live good moral lives. Gay is the only Way.

masturbation is apparently "self-abuse", and will lead to all sorts or immorality. This book actually encourages parents to suddenly fling back the covers of a young girls bed just to check if she's touching herself. THAT sounds like abuse to me. This author is a sick, confused, blind fool. This book never should have been written.

Masturbation does not cause epilepsy nor is it a method of “self pollution or harm”. Excessive masturbation can cause injury. Masturbation is completely normal within reason.
