Yog-Sothoth's Box

Read by S. Lawrence Parrish

(4.3 stars; 293 reviews)

Heed not the limits of time and space,
for the Ageless Ones know no such place.
And man, that slave to light and life,
should free himself with edge of knife.

Dread C'thulhu longs to embrace,
those strong enough to face the face
and spill their blood, a fountain red,
to satiate the timeless dread.

The darkness spreads in search of those
whose righteous meddlings did impose
upon the Masters a prison cell.
Hear these words and mark them well.

Mankind's apparent supremacy
over all the creatures of land and sea,
is but a myth that stifles truth.
Yog-Sothoth's Box is all the proof
that fools need press to heart and vein
to understand this last refrain:

Heed not the limits of time and space,
for the Ageless Ones know no such place.

A warning from an ancient manuscript. An artefact. A scientist, a librarian, and a scholar. Mythos from the imagination of H.P. Lovecraft given a modern twist.

Yog-Sothoth's Box: the darkness must be fed. . . .

As an avid Lovecraft fan, I read every tributary sorry or novel that i can get my hands on. This book does one of the best jobs I've seen in maintaining the style of horror that we all see in Lovecraftian horror. The horror comes not from what is known to the narrator, but from the fact that he is made aware of how little he DOES know about reality and the world he perceives around him.

I’ve been looking for a good modern cosmic horror story and this is definitely one that fits. There is something about a story read by the person who wrote it that’s special compared to having someone else read it and he does a wonderful job both in the telling and the writing.

I have enjoyed five audiobooks by S. Lawrence Parrish to date and look forward to more. Steve is a wonderful author who has a great reading voice. Yog-Sothoth's Box follows many of the familiar themes of the other books. The guinea pigs and the old and valuble book collection remind ...

I liked it ok. I love when we have the privilege of hearing the author tell the story. He does a great job. I just think it lacked more story. But the short read was really good.

Good story, well read

Steve is a clever writer who comes up with new ideas and delivers them himself, very well! Really enjoyed this book and was sorry when it ended. Keep up the good work buddy!
