Proudly We Hail - Single Episodes
Proudly We Hail was a public service show for the Army and Air Force that first aired for a period of four months in 1941 on CBS. The show returned to the airwaves from 1946 through 1957 and aired on as many as 1300 radio stations. The 1941 shows were designed to strengthen the defense machine during a time of national emergency, just prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
In 1946, Hollywood producer C. P. MacGregor created a series to support Army and Air Corps recruitment. The shows featured big-name Hollywood stars and were broadcast on independent stations. The program enjoyed a wide audience, growing to over 1,300 stations by mid-1948. The series continued through to episode 464, released in August 1957, although many episodes are still missing.
This series is a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the efforts to recruit during a critical time in history. The performances are well recorded and engaging, making it a worthwhile listen for anyone interested in Old Time Radio.
