Today we are bombarded with the idea that forensic science can be used to solve almost any crime. At the turn of the twentieth century, forensic science was in its infancy, but Ainsworth Mitchell was a leader in the field. He was head of investigation at Scotland Yard and was frequently called as an expert witness. His areas of expertise were handwriting analysis and document authentication.
