Breckinridge Elkins is the roughest, toughest, fastest-shootin', hardest-fightin' feller in the Bear Creek settlement, and probably in the entire Humbolt Mountains. As he travels further from home, he single-handedly takes on outlaws, settles (and starts) feuds and tries his hand at romancing the girls. He also discovers a lot of strange customs among other folks, such as building houses out of boards and wearing clothes that ain't buckskins. Set in Arizona during the late 1800's, this collection of stories is a great rollicking romp through the American frontier as seen through the eyes of one of the most enjoyable characters created in the history of tall tales. More adventures with Breck, the guy who Mother Nature gave more muscles than brains. The reader does a perfect job with his voices and this story, I LOVED it. Thank you!

tall standing cowboy

The storylines were pretty farfetched but entertaining just the same. The cowboy of vernacular gets a little tiresome after a while and is a little over the top. But that's how it was written and you might find it very entertaining. The character was in the same lines as Paul Bunyan and that is pretty much indestructible. But he did have some pretty good adventures and a couple of them were very entertaining a couple others were somewhat predictable. If you like cowboy adventures with a tall hard nose never say die cowboy then this is the novel for you.

really funny

racist and sexist but the minorities and women usually get over on him so it kind of makes up for it. you will laugh and the reader really brings it to life

JUST AS GOOD AS VOLUME 1

A continuing parade of tall tales woven around Breckenridge Elkins. They are good, but the reader truly makes them great.
