A compelling love triangle. Marcia is young & sweet. Her older sister Kate is vain & selfish. Marcia deeply admires the man that Kate is to marry: handsome & respected David Spafford. But on the eve of the wedding, Kate elopes with another man. Marcia is there when the note is found...the note that effectively breaks David's heart. Out of pity for his situation, Marcia offers to take Kate's place, in order to save David from humiliation. She grows in love for him, all the while aware that he's still grieving for his lost Kate. What will happen when Kate returns, fully intending to get David back? Will Marcia have the strength to fight for the man she now loves? (Summary by Chloey Winters)

awesome story, but robotic reading

(4 stars)

I love this story, read the book many times - but the reader's awkward and robotic inflection is reminiscent of my navigation system.

Great story but the reader makes this book very hard to listen to. Bless her for the effort but I think she should try something else other than reading.

I must say, this author is fantastic, and I am sure the reader means well. I am not sure if there are health challenges, but I have heard this reader in numerous formats and her seeming great tension and more so her extremely pronounced sing song voice are distracting from any author she reads. I wish her well and hope she can relax and overcome this as she is so obviously passionate a volunteer reader and trying to be of service to all.

Hang in there

(5 stars)

This is a bit of a slow starter. However its worth sticking with it through the first few chapters. The narration is also rather irritating at the beginning. But that improves also as the story progresses. Don't give up on it too soon.

Impossible to Listen to

(0.5 stars)

The novel itself is not the issue.. the reader is. She has a weird way of speaking which, to me, ruins anything she reads. She has a pinched voice and seems unable to use a normal rhythm or inflection. Absolutely GRATING!!!

Wrong Reader

(1 stars)

Reader emphasizes the last word of every sentence. So hard to listen to. I erased the book after chapter 3 as I could not listen any longer.

Enjoyed!

Great book, after a while you get use to the readers unnatural high pitch. I loved the book!

(3 stars)

Beautiful story, however I couldn't enjoy it much because the reader had a high intonation in almost every sentence.
