i love James Oliver Curwood books. Im from Owosso where he is from and his writing studio is still here. Its a castle. As a matter of fact this is Curwood days weekend.

Our protagonist is an unimaginative, dense man with little common sense. He refuses to believe the girl when she tells him of the impending sale. He lets her return alone to the cabin of her abuser. He refuses to listen to the Indian woman’s warnings. He gives no notice to Peter’s changes in behavior, even after spending so much time getting to know him. (I e the wolverine at the cabin, the tresses one girl, the waiting Mountie etc. He constantly makes the worst possible decision at every opportunity. I found it very frustrating and quit reading.

This is a very sweet love story and Roger Milen is a wonderful narrator. I always love his narrations he is one of the best at Librivox. I would highly recommend some of the other James Oliver Curwood books that he has narrated.

Great journey... life's funny that way! This author must have a deep and abiding love for this country. I will continue to read or listen to his books, and who knows, I may wonder that way myself some April or May! Well read!

Lovely story

One of my favorite readers. Voice is like smooth whiskey. Story of orphan abused by foster parents and redemption for her and the man she falls in love with. Canadian setting of wilderness.

nice long story. (another book with such an age gap which is rather perverted. adventure after adventure. Petes such a good therapist as well as a loyal friend.

Great story !!! Looking forward to his next one. Excellently read by Roger Melin. Good voice and glad there was only one reader. Different readers throw the story off.
