Follows the fortunes of the son of a noble Saxon family in Norman England as he woos his lady, disobeys his father, and is loved by another. Set in late 12C England and in Palestine with Richard Cœur-de-Lion at the Crusades, it's another ripping historical yarn by Scott (summary by annise)

Reviews

Ivanhoe

(5 stars)

Enjoyable book that was well read. The changes of readers did cause some distractions, but I was able to adjust to the change after a few minutes.

(4 stars)

An excellent story that is well written. The readers were great for the most part although there was a reader or two that was hard to understand.

Classic book, dry readers.

(4 stars)

The reader for almost the first half of the book was great, but whoever read the final act was very monotonic and sounded as bored as she makes those who listen to her droning feel.

MASTERPIECE

(5 stars)

I have seen the movie several times, but this is my first reading of the book. I plainly see the changes made for the movie script which actually adhered closely to the book. Each is equally satisfying in its own way. For the most part, the readings werewell done.

(3 stars)

the reader is clear, but she did struggle with a few words. the description states that the work is read by volunteers, so i suppose it can be forgiven.

Great book!

(4 stars)

Fun group of readers, though some struggled with pronunciations and language accent, particularly Latin which is difficult. All readers seemed enthusiastic.

Nighean Dubh

(4.5 stars)

Some of the readers were outstanding. I plan to listen again in the future. Thank you to all the volunteers. Thank you to those who founded Librivox.

Too many readers

(3 stars)

The first half of the book is read by an excellent reader, then there are about a dozen different readers who are hit and miss
