Bee Man of Orn

(5 stars)

Excellent reading of these strange, medieval-sounding tales. Initially, I was unsure if these odd stories would hold my attention -- they did, equally due to the author's style and the reader's skill. Her voice is pure and her enunciation perfect, and has a lovely tone. Highly recommended. Thank you Gryphon! More please. TheBookworm (Manchester, UK)

the bee man of orn and other fanciful tales

(5 stars)

this is a wonderful reading; very clear and articulate. if you can find it, there is also the excellent reading of Frank Stockton's "the lady or the tiger/the discourager of hesitancy" read by Toyah with musical accompaniment by Robert Fripp ( guitarist for King Crimson) on EG records.

one of my favorite

(4 stars)

Frank Stockton and his fanciful stories are like lost gems waiting to be mined. I fall in love with one after the other and listen repeatedly to the whimsical yet searching stories getting to know the stories and their characters well enough to tell the stories myself. The narrator puts great effort into interpreting the characters but in my mind sometimes misses the mark. Bravo for the effort however I find some of the voices off putting preferring a straighter, simpler narration. Though some others may appreciate her tone and talent. If you love fairytales you’ll love Frank Stockton, his Bee Man, Griffin, the queens museum and the king in search of a better way to rule, and all his characters who are searching for something, usually themselves.

One of my favorite books and authors. I listen to these stories again and again over the years, and I'm 70 now. I find courage, wonder, humor, and heart and I'm reminded to just be me. The reader puts in her best efforts and brings each stories to life. Thank you Griffin. Check out other Frank Stocton stories where you can find them.

I’ve Listened to these again and again. Love the stories of Frank Stockton. The images stay with me. The characters are searching for self identity, family, and answers to some of the same questions we struggle with. Reader is clear and well paced, able to do several voices keep characters separate and consistent. Highly recommend

perfect stories beautifully read

these stories are for the seeker of unusual stories. some are for younger readers but I think older readers (listeners!) will get possibly even more pleasures from their curious and creative take on life. And wonderfully read by gryphon. thank you, gryphon, so much for this!

Most enjoyable

(5 stars)

At first I was a bit disconcerted by the strangeness of these tales, but they are really wonderful. They are just the kind of highly imaginative tales one would tell to children, perhaps making them up as you go along. The reader does a marvelous job.

Unusual selection of old tales

Some of the stories were quite humorous, others a little dull. Reader did an excellent job when usi g her normal voice but struggled with character changes.
