The Adventures of Pinocchio (version 2)
Carlo Collodi
Read by Mark F. Smith

Do today's children still learn what a "marionette" is? The beloved story of Pinocchio may represent a last lingering picture of a world not dominated by plastic or electronic toys.
Pinocchio is a puppet made from a piece of wood that curiously could talk even before being carved. A wooden-head he starts and a wooden-head he stays - until after years of misadventures caused by his laziness and failure to keep promises he finally learns to care about his family - and then he becomes a real boy.
For those who have seen the Disney movie the cast of characters will be familiar, from the Talking Cricket (who acts as his conscience) to Lamp-Wick, his partner in truancy and having heedless fun.
Though the toys of today are far from the puppet shows in Carlo Collodi's book, his themes of being truthful, thoughtful, and dependable will always be timely.

Fabulous reading of this beautiful classic! All three of my children, 9yo boy, 6yo girl, and 4yo boy enjoyed listening. We laughed and worried together through Pinocchio's many adventures. Thank you for such a wonderful narration, Mark Smith!

pretty much everyone knows the story of Pinocchio, or do they? many little differences in the book from all the movies made. i highly recommend this as a regular bedtime story for the children. Pinocchio was VERY naughty and the book has death and serious injuries made light of, but overall it is a morality tale. be a good little girl or boy OR ELSE. the reader did fantastic! could not have been read better even by a full cast recording! listen to all of his reads! a real pro and someone who obviously enjoys literature and gets into the story himself - right down to braying like a donkey!
great job!

Children Were Engaged

My 8 and 4.5 year old found this book very engaging and really enjoyed the reading. Excellent and engaging voice changes that kept the kids engaged. They listened to it in a day. I enjoyed it myself. It was quite different from the Disney movie I’d been brought up on. A lot more depth and a lot more moral guidance. Not as heavy a focus on the cricket.
great

My children have this book scheduled for homeschool books on Ambleside online. I was worried it was too much for my kids, so we decided to do this book audio. The reader does such a good job and they are loving the book! The descriptions the author used, translated is just funny. My husband and I are enjoying it as well.
