It Pays Even More on Fox-TV

(4 stars)

A silly show, satirizing the know-it-all Quiz-kid type shows of the day in a vaudeville revue fashion. It's basically four "panelists" swapping puns in dis-answer to host Tom Howard's inane and obvious questions. Still, in the right mood, it can be lots of fun. And when a successful riff gets going, the result is inspired and downright hilarious. The wartime AFRS shows are the best, but beware sloppy edits (to remove ads). One of the best features is the remarkable orchestra, which could top Spike Jones for aural hijinks and imaginative play. Check out fan Robert Benchley's appearance on the Oct 20, 1944 recording elsewhere on the Archive.

Short attention span, quick wit

This is a well-done parody of radio quiz shows. The humor is similar to Abbot&Costello, the Marx Brothers and Hollywood screwball comedies - rapid fire and non-stop. The music echos the anarchy of the verbal jokes but often goes on too long, though I can appreciate that the performers need a rest away from the quick pace. I hope more episodes will be posted someday!

Nice show

Funny and entertaining. It's a nice satire to quiz-shows despite the, always present but still charming, dated jokes. The sound is really good. Thank you for this upload.

Hilarious!

Very funny vaudeville-style quiz show. Panelists are absolutely hilarious.
