Middle American Madness

Light of My Life is a silly, improvisational soap opera spoof with ad-libbing actors and a narrator who often cracks up. Not great comedy, but not bad, either, and bizarre enough to keep you listening. Episodes are around 4 minutes and seem to have aired one per day, Monday through Friday, the first episode in this set, #071, airing on a Thursday (At the end of #072, the narrator indicates that that is Friday's episode while hyping the next episode (#073) as coming "on Monday"). "Story of Satan Place" is a similar series.

I'M IN TEARS (OF HAPPINESS)

(5 stars)

I am so happy I came across this. I am laughing so hard and crying because it brings back such good memories! The organ, the characters, background sounds, characters, everything to me is hilarious. Corny, yes, but so darn funny. I was addicted to them. I could not function if I did not listen to L & B on my way to work. Just love it!

Haha

Very corny and generally hilarious, my only complaint would be that out of the four minutes in each episode, around 1.5 are spent recapping the old one. This wouldn't be so bad if the episodes are longer, but it's a lot of time wasted if you want to listen to a lot of these. Ah well, very nice anyway!

Lohman and Barkley

(4 stars)

These episodes were collected from the Lohman and Barkley radio program and they should be given credit. I listed to their morning radio program for several years. "Light of my Life" was only one of an enormous variety of themes they parodied over the years. Their show was usually the high point of my day.

Playback speed too fast

(3 stars)

I am extremely familiar with Lohman & Barkley - was a loyal fan for many years. I have my own recordings but these recordings are playing too fast - their voices are slightly lower pitch. Still finding this collection is cool!

Organist

FYI, the organist known as "Organ Phil" for these zany episodes is none other than legendary theatre organist George Wright. For more information on his forthcoming biography and CD releases, please visit http://www.GeniusOfGeorgeWright.com
