Since the Sundering, all use of the Breath has been outlawed. The Overlord and his family have destroyed all who could wield that mighty power. Now, the Overlord's own son needs that outlawed power to unseat his father.

Having spent her entire life trying to stay unnoticed, Elena is forced to come to grips with the Breath's curse when her only child is ripped away from her. A pawn in the game between the Duke and his father, she must find a way to rescue her daughter and remain free of their manipulative grasp. When she does, her entire world collapses around her, and she realizes just how dangerous this game is.

As she struggles to out maneuver the Overlord, the Duke, and their supernatural allies, Elena must find a way to defeat them both. If she cannot, the entire world will pay the price.

the story is decent. Couple issues. Primarily, the words breath/breathe are overused. They can mean a measure of time, an intake of air, or casting a spell in this book. Many times they mean all 3 in the same sentence back to back. It's both confusing and annoying. Secondly, it's like the author looked up "basic fantasy book religions" and just forced them into the book with no real thought. His reading, however is superb. Each character is real and believable. The story drags a little in places but recovers quickly. I do recommend it if you have a few afternoons to kill

Lost interest

(2 stars)

Started off quite promising, but then fell away somewhat and I then lost interest and couldn’t be bothered listening to the rest of it. To be fair, the story may well pick up later on and be brilliant but once I have lost interest in a book I never get it back. Not for me, but you may like it. It is well read though.

Story line is disjointed and makes no sense.

Nice idea, but poor execution. Anyone that can listen to this and ignore the timeline jumps and holes is, at best, semi-literate. The amulate flys off into the woods, but is hanging in mid air. The daughter falls off the cliff, but is captured and being held by a soldier seconds later? Morons.

Lonnie, I am really enjoying this book and look forward to future episodes. I am now downloading the stuff manually due to connection problems, unrelated to Podiobooks, with the iTunes software. Half the time that the program says that something has been downloaded it is nowhere to be found on ...

Chris - yes. That's all of book one! You made it to the finish line. I do have one more episode in the pipe which I had hoped to get out last week, but my freelance work demanded more time than anticipated. It's a "behind the scenes" essay that was ...

So far this is one of my favorite books I've found here on PodioBooks. I am down to the last four episodes and I can't wait to find out what happens. I haven't had a chance to visit the web site yet I hope to do that today. Is there ...

Okay, I just happen to think this book would make a great movie! As I worked, I was totally visualizing the enviornment on a cinematic screen. When I first started listening, I thought the pace a little slow. I took a break and listened to some other stuff, then came ...

I have just started Podiobooks and learned very quickly to download manually to successfully get all the chapters. I love the story line and am excited to continue on a daily basis. I agree this would make a great movie or TV series. I am a very slow reader and ...
