He discovers that the town and the entire county are controlled by an unscrupulous cattleman, Dunlavey. This guy is a law unto himself, stealing cattle from his neighbors, who are powerless to defend themselves because he also owns the local sheriff. One man’s determination against all odds...some really bad cowboys who make trouble at the moment in time when law must inevitably come to a lawless land...the quality of loyalty is strong in this story and lift romance to sweeten the pot....recommend....

All-around Intriguing Tale

A good test of a good book is when the reader doesn't want it to end.

this is a VERY GOOD STORY, well written, well narrated, it's a western and there is not a lot of ways to alter western novels but this one is very well done without as many derogatory slurs as most older novels seem to have so flamboyantly used, in fact I would say this narrative would be suitable for listening to while traveling with younger ears listening, less violence and racially bias then most novels of it's era.. very good choice. thank you to everybody involved in getting this story to my ears.

Rest In Peace Richard! 😢

Only recently, I learned of the passing of Richard Kilmer at 80 years of age. He will be sorely missed by his many LibriVox followers, but fortunately he left us with hundreds, if not, thousands of hours of listening pleasure. Rest In Peace, my friend. 🙏🏻 March 2023
