Great old sci-fi. I listened while I was drifting in and out of sleep, and I had peculiar dreams.

Some fine stories and readings, some less so

I am pleased to see that the quality both of the stories and the readings of the astounding stories has improved again where it was. The volunteers cannot be criticised where the source material is a little weak as it has been in a couple of previous episodes. I also find it difficult to criticise readers who are making the effort to volunteer and do this great service for us for free, however, some of the readers do seem to struggle with the texts. This makes it harder to listen and enjoy. I found that the best way to deal with the SPMeek story, the port of missing planes, was to turn up the reading speed in the app because the reader was so slow. This improve matters greatly, and I recommend other listeners to try the same trick, if they find it difficult also. It doesn’t fix that three reader doesn’t leave sufficient pauses at end of sentences, or when different people are speaking et cetera which does still make it a little tricky to follow sometimes. I was most impressed and happy to see a reading by the excellent Mark Nelson, as part of this addition, as he is probably the finest male voice reader in LibriVox.
