Quite a lot of mathematical science as we follow 6 science savants and their entourage into the wilds of South Africa to measure one of the earth’s meridians. I still don’t understand what that means, but it is an interesting adventure story that creates strong bonds of friendship between valiant men who find out that their countries may be at war with one another while they are in the wilds battling many hardships as they come up with their history-making calculations.
