St Andrews Ghost Stories

Read by David Wales

(4.2 stars; 48 reviews)

Seventeen ghost stories (fourth edition published 1921) centered around the ruined medieval cathedral of Saint Andrew in the Scots city of that name. The author was famous in his time for his interest in ghostly apparitions. ( David Wales) (3 hr 6 min)

Excellent ghost story collection to listen to in a cozy room with fireplace ablaze, snow outside, and hot tea and cookies ready. The excellent reader makes the gem of this work shine even brighter!

Brilliant! I must say I was spooked enough with one of stories to have to turn the nightlight on :) But David Wales is definitely one of my favourite readers and I wound give up the listening. I often do my book searches by inputting his name. Thanks David, and please keep them coming!

Excellent book

I enjoyed this book. It's great to listen to on cold, rainy nights.

I could stand to go only as far as halfway into the first story and just sample the next three, but what I could absorb in store of the insufferable reader suggests that they are interesting and well-written. However, the reader is among the worst I've heard in all the many reasons I've listened to on Librivox. His manner is stilted and mechanical, in a monotone that I daresay suggests a learning disability. I shall look for another reading of what might be an excellent collection but from this reader is unlistenable.
