James’s Story By David Zane Mairowitz

Leído por James Rooke

James’s Story, written and directed by the acclaimed author David Zane Mairowitz, explores the memories of an Englishman reflecting on a holiday to Dingle in 1968. His recollections are intertwined with the narrative of his friend, the Story Poacher, who revises and re-animates these memories.

The drama features haunting episodes, including a chance meeting with an old man and a tense encounter in a local pub, both colored by the legacies of the War of Independence. The play stars Stephen Rea as the Story Poacher, with James Rooke narrating his own story.

Recorded partially on location in Dingle, the program includes contributions from local actors and musicians, creating a rich tapestry of sound and storytelling. The program was funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland with the Television Licence Fee.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
