A documentary about the Anglo-American novelist and screenwriter Raymond Chandler who died in 1959. Chandler had a huge influence on the style of the modern detective story. His protagonist, Philip Marlowe, is considered synonymous with the 'private detective' and was played on screen by Humphrey Bogart. First broadcast 4th March 1991.
