Sadly, Bob Grant just doesn't come across as a realistic, believable detective. I'm happy to say I've never had any dealings with a police detective but my impression of them is someone with more, concealed emotions, reserved speech and careful thought. Bob Grant sounds exactly like he's back "On the Buses." - I understand his acting career tanked after O.T.B. - he put it down to being typecast but many other actors have transcended from an iconic comedic role to straight acting. I just don't think Bob Grant had the talent to make that transition. I only listened to the first 20 minutes of the Red Telephone Box. I found Grant's two dimensional delivery irritating and unengaging. I cannot recommend this radio play, even though I was fascinated to hear that Bob Grant was in it. Unfortunately, he let me down. Rest in peace Bob.
