Don Haworth A View From The Mountain
Don Haworth
A View from the Mountain is a poignant play that tells the story of an old quarryman and his wife who live on a mountain, following the instructions of the Emperor. Their lives take a turn when a surveyor attempts to free them from their burdens, revealing the extraordinary nature of their existence.
Joseph, the quarryman, is a man of remarkable strength and resilience, condemned to push boulders up the mountain for life as punishment for a childhood accident. This tale draws parallels to the myth of Sisyphus, set against the backdrop of a remote valley in central Europe.
The play features music specially composed by Max Early and performed by Nicholas Kok, Tina Longford, and Nigel Shore, and is directed by Gordon House. The cast includes notable performances by Michael Williams, Judi Dench, and Graham Blockey, among others.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
