Monica Dickens The Winds Of Heaven
Monica Dickens
The Winds of Heaven is a poignant adaptation of Monica Dickens' 1955 novel, brought to life on BBC Radio 4. This Saturday-Night Theatre production aired on November 6, 1971, and was adapted for radio by Jill Hyem.
The story follows a widow, rising sixty, who finds herself moving from one daughter to another, struggling to find her place in their lives. Each daughter presents a different world: Miriam, the socially ambitious one; Eva, an aspiring actress; and Anne, married to a kind-hearted smallholder. Through these visits, the widow grapples with her feelings of isolation and the complexities of family dynamics.
