Saturday Playhouse: A Stone from Heaven is a captivating two-part play that brings to life one of the greatest European tales—the story of the Grail. In this first part, titled The Wounding, we follow young Parsifal as he embarks on his quest to become a knight.

Set against a backdrop of magic and mystery, the play features a rich tapestry of characters, including Gawain, Arthur, and the enigmatic Herzeloyde. With music by Martin Allcock and directed by Nigel Bryant, this adaptation promises to engage listeners of all ages.

Lindsay Clarke's retelling is inspired by the epic poem Perceval, le Conte du Graal by Chrétien de Troyes, and aims to inspire a new generation to explore the original text. Clarke later adapted this radio play into a novel in 2001, titled Parzival and the Stone From Heaven: A Grail Romance Retold for Our Time.
