(4.6 stars; 40 reviews)

Thirty Days of Maigret During the month of December, I will upload the thirty episodes of Maigret by George Georges Simenon. This is the complete series which was broadcast from 1976, to 2004. I created this series on CD in 2007, and uploaded it once before. If anyone wishes to re-upload them elsewhere they are welcome to do so.  A credit to SANWAL, would be appreciated. I have uploaded program info for the series here: Thirty Days Of Maigret December 2021 pdf 1: Maigret Goes Home Sat 21st Aug 1976, 18:15 on BBC Radio 4 FM A series of plays based on the novels of Georges Simenon. Translated by Robert Baldick and adapted for radio by Frederick Bradnum With Maurice Denham as Jules Maigret and Michael Gough as Georges Simenon with Brian Haines as Lucas and Sean Barrett as Janvier Produced and directed by Glyn Dearman Maurice Saint Fiacre: Michael Spice Dr Bnuchardon: Hector Ross Jean Metayer: Clifford Norgate Gautier: Cyril Shaps Emile Gautier: Anthony Daniels Priest: Michael Deacon At the crack of dawn, on a raw morning, Chief Inspector Maigret finds himself in the church of Saint-Flacre, the village where he was born and raised. Two weeks before, a note had warned the police that at the first Mass on All Souls' Day a crime would be committed. This is a masterful tale of aristocrats fallen on hard times and of a   profligate son who in the final hour finds unexpected strength of character. murky murder detective story

(4 stars)

Quite an absorbing detective story set in the world of the French bourgeoisie. I find that the Maigret stories don't have too many likeable characters and in addition, in this story, Simenon's obsessive disgust at women's sexuality plays a jarring role. All in all I felt a little grubby at the end of it! But the whodunit aspect is still intriguing. Thanks to SANWAL for uploading.

A valiant effort
