Bonaventure is a gripping psychological thriller adapted for broadcasting by Peggy Wells. The play unfolds in the Convent of Our Lady of Rheims, a French Nursing Order, located in Denzil St. David, a village near Norwich, England, during the beginning of 1947.
Sister Bonaventure, the nun in charge, is in poor health and is urged by the other nuns to take a rest. On a stormy night, two prison wardens and a convicted murderess seek shelter in the convent. Sarat Carn is on her way to the gallows for the murder of her brother, but Sister Mary Bonaventure believes in her innocence. Just before the police arrive, a confession is forced from the real murderer.
This production was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on September 21, 1968.
