Joe O' Byrne What Next For Hedy Lamarr

What Next For Hedy Lamarr is a captivating play written and directed by Joe O'Byrne. This sonic treatment explores the remarkable life of Hedy Lamarr, a woman whose biography reads like a one-woman history of the 20th century.

Born in Vienna and later emigrating to America, Lamarr became a movie screen idol and an inventor. She registered a patent for a process called frequency hopping, which proposed a means of radio-guidance for weaponry, making it impossible to jam via enemy transmissions. This innovative concept pre-dated technology used in Wi-Fi.

The play features performances by Olwen Fouéré as Hedy Lamarr, Mario Rosenstock as Fritz Mandl, and Roger Gregg as the police officer, among others. With original music by Denis Clohessy and sound supervision by Mark Dwyer, this production offers a unique auditory experience.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
