The Deerslayer
The Attempt at Ransom
The Deerslayer is a frontier adventure based on James Fenimore Cooper’s novel, set amid the forests and waterways of colonial North America. The story follows Natty Bumppo, known here as Deerslayer, as he faces danger and difficult choices in a wilderness shaped by conflict.
In “The Attempt at Ransom,” the title points to a tense episode involving a threatened rescue or exchange. The radio dramatization brings the action to life through spoken performance and sound, emphasizing suspense, peril, and the characters’ struggle to protect one another.
Cooper’s tale combines adventure with questions of loyalty, courage, and life on a contested frontier. Listeners can expect a dramatic literary adaptation with an old-fashioned sense of exploration and danger.
