Boston Blackie

Blackie Jilts Mary

English · Radio

Boston Blackie follows Horatio “Boston Blackie” Black, a reformed jewel thief who uses his streetwise instincts and underworld connections to help solve crimes. His sharp wit and unconventional methods often put him at odds with Inspector Farraday, while Blackie’s girlfriend, Mary Wesley, and loyal friend Runt provide familiar company in his adventures.

The radio series blends crime-solving with comedy and light adventure. Episodes typically center on a mystery or criminal scheme, with Blackie drawing on his past to get ahead of the police and outmaneuver the people behind the trouble. The interplay between Blackie and Farraday gives the investigations a lively, often teasing edge.

Its tone is brisk and accessible, balancing suspense with banter rather than leaning into hard-boiled darkness. The result is an entertaining detective drama built around a charming rogue whose talents are most useful when he is helping the law.
