Dave lives in New York City with his lawyer father and his mother, who has bouts of asthma brought on by family strife. The cat, named "Cat" lives a wild life that brings Dave in contact with a future friend and girl friend. Wonderful

(5 stars)

A believable slice of life about a 14 year old boy, his cat, and other goings on. Nicely read. I positively inhaled the book and am disappointed it is over.

I highly recommend! Fun book, easy to follow, easy to keep the characters straight, not a bit preachy. As you listen, everyone comes to life in such a way that they feel familiar, regular people, not perfect but just living their lives. I wish there were a sequel! The reader does a fine job, enjoyable to listen to. Another reviewer mentioned skipping; it was brief and I didn’t find it to be a problem.

One of my favorite childhood books!

One of my favorite childhood books! A real trip down memory lane as my son is now the same age as the main character! Well narrated and thoroughly enjoyable!

A Gentle Story

(4 stars)

A nostalgic look at being a young teenage kid in New York City in the middle of the 20th century. Including a sweet story line. Good bedtime listening.
