Treasure Island

(4.5 stars; 312 reviews)

Treasure Island is an adventure novel, a thrilling tale of "buccaneers and buried gold." Traditionally considered a coming of age story, it is an adventure tale of superb atmosphere, character and action, and also a wry commentary on the ambiguity of morality—as seen in Long John Silver—unusual for children's literature then and now. Good old book

(5 stars)

I tried reading this when I was 8 years old, never Finnish it. Years later tried again... never finished, then some 50 years later. Listened to it on here... finished it.

This is a collaborative reading of Treasure Island from Librivox.org. This is a great book, and a great reading. Well worth listening to!

problems

(0 stars)

Although I didn't download this, when I was streaming it there were several chapters that sound like the chipmunks. These are chs 5-6,9-10, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25-26, 31, and 32. I tried several times and the problem continued but I'm not sure where to address the issue on this site.

Too many readers and too many sloooowww readers. One guy had a whistle on his S's which was very annoying.

adventure from beginning to end

great book and great readers. bravo I enjoyed every chapter as I walked my dog in the dark night the book keeping me company and the dog guiding me through the darkness if the walk. sometimes it wouldn't rain and I could see the stars. I now need to find another book. librivox is awesome and the readers are awesome too. if I didn't have such a strong Welsh accent (Welsh being my first language) id look into volunteering myself. thank you for a great book

Very good book, mostly good reading :)

(5 stars)

Gripping story, interesting characters and enjoyable narrative :) The majority of the book was very well read, my only complaints are that some readers put the stress on the wrong part of the sentence, which is quite irritating and the voices of the characters differed between narrators. Kudos to everyone with a pirate accent!

dramatized version of the book

(4 stars)

Once I got over to the uneven recording quality of the voices, I enjoyed listening to this dramatized version of the book. I think the voices were well done and they made the book come to life for me. Well done!

A Classic

I had to read this book for school and I don't necessarily recommend it. I thought it was pretty boring. The audiobook did make it better though. Treasure Island is a classic.
